Man, listen.

The drug war is one of the biggest piles of government bullshit in the modern age.
And its insane to say that prohibition does good for low income minority communities throughout America. Prohibition is what makes drugs profitable, it’s the reason drugs are a problem in low income communities. If you’re born into a poor family life can be hard as hell, anything to alleviate the pressure of how will you provide for your self and your family is going to become a possible option, especially when the pay off is so high, as it is in the case of selling of contraband.
Make drugs legal and you see a drop in the imprisonment of  non-violent offenders, meaning those family members can return to their families and again begin contributing to aiding the family. You’ll see a drop in gang violence, as gangs will become unable to fund their illegal activity, because no one want’s to buy drugs from a shady dick-wad in an ally, who might be selling you cocaine cut with baby powder, when they can go into a nice clean retail store and buy them legally, from a company that sells a consistent product; which also translates to less drug related death from bad product.
You only need to look at Alcohol to know that making a drug legal makes it less harmful. And If you look at countries where drugs are legal, they are  showing the same results that the anti-drug nuts claim their side is seeking. Drug use is down, as is crime, Portugal decriminalized all drugs. One decade after this unprecedented experiment, drug abuse is down by half
Anti-drug people are not interested in helping these communities, their interest lay in controlling the lives of those around them.

South Carolina Newspaper Runs Correction After Saying There’s No Religious Litmus Test for Holding Public Office

atheistassessment:

The Columbia Free-Times (South Carolina) ran a brief article last week criticizing the governor and a state senator for getting into an online spat online over the religious beliefs of a possible political appointee. The article included this line:

Last time we checked, there was no religious litmus test for holding public office, and we hope there never will be.
Just one problem: South Carolina is one of the few states where there actually
is a law
in the state Constitution banning atheists from holding office. It forced the alt-weekly to
run this correction

Fahrenheit 451 has been my favorite book since high school. I fuckin love this! XD I read that book at a point and time in my life when I didn’t really understand much about my self, (and by extension didn’t have a lot of confidence in my self) and it was the first time life that I can remember when I read something that taught me something about my  self.

imageJuly 12 927 – Æthelstan, King of England, secures a pledge from Constantine II of Scotland that the latter will not ally with Viking kings, beginning the process of unifying Great Britain. This is considered the closest thing that England has to a foundation date. After a long process of annexations, the various small kingdoms within what is now England are unified by King Aethelstan, creating the Kingdom of England.
